One of three overdose deaths in March did not involve heroin

Test results show that a woman who was one of three people found dead in Spokane County on March 9 died from drug toxicity but did not take heroin, according to the Spokane County Medical Examiner.

Jessica M. Peterson, 29, had methadone, alprazolam and lorazepam in her system when she died. She was found in the 13600 block of East Fourth Street in Spokane Valley and was the second of three people who died that day of a suspected drug overdose, which prompted the Spokane Police Department to warn of a potential bad batch of drugs on the street. It was thought that the deaths involved heroin.

The medical examiner said previously that another member of the trio, 21-year-old William L. Hubbard, overdosed on heroin and methamphetamine. Test results for the third person, Yana Olar, 25, are still pending.
