Prep roundup: Mt. Spokane keeps season alive with shootout win over Kennewick

Tyler Smith had a goal and an assist and Camden Clegg came up with a huge save in a shootout as the Mt. Spokane Wildcats notched a 3-2 victory over the Kennewick Lions in a 3A Regional loser-out boys soccer match at Lampson Stadium in Kennewick on Tuesday.

The Wildcats will play a loser-out match against Rogers on Saturday at Spokane Falls CC for the No. 2 seed to state.

Isaiah Arechiga scored two goals to lead Kamiakin to a 4-0 win over Rogers at Lampson Stadium for the top seed to state.

4A Regional: Lewis and Clark hit the road and blanked Richland 2-0 in a loser-out match.

With the win the Tigers advance to play at Central Valley on Thursday .

District 7 2A: Matt Winchell scored on a penalty kick in the 44th minute and Will Pitzer made nine saves to lead Pullman to a 1-0 win over visiting East Valley to decide the top two seeds for glue games against the CWAC.

On Saturday, Pullman will play CWAC No. 4 seed – East Valley (Yakima) or Toppenish at 1 p.m. in Pullman, while East Valley hits the road to take on CWAC No. 3 at 1 p.m. Both games are winner-to-state.

District 7 1A: Alberto Cisneros scored three goals and added an assist and Lakeside upset host Colville 5-3 in a loser-out game. Lakeside advances to play Newport on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Central Valley HS to decide the top two seeds to state. … Newport advanced by rallying from a 3-1 halftime deficit to beat visiting Medical Lake 4-3 in the other loser-out match.

Baseball

Josh Ellis drove in the winning run with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth inning to lift Richland over visiting Lewis and Clark 9-8 in a 4A Regional loser-out game.

Dawson Pate had a grand slam in LC’s seven-run sixth as the Tigers took an 8-5 lead. Richland scored three in its half of the sixth to knot the score. Richland travels to play Central Valley on Friday at 4 p.m.

District 7 1A: Nason Dvorak used a pair of hits to drive in three runs and Lakeside defeated visiting Chewelah 7-5 in a loser-out game. Lakeside travels to play Medical Lake on Wednesday at 4 p.m. … Deer Park scored five runs in the sixth inning to knock off host Colville 6-1 in a loser-out game. DP travels to play Freeman on Wednesday at 4 p.m.

Idaho 5A Region 1: Lewiston scored four runs in the second inning and held on for a 5-2 win over visiting Coeur d’Alene in a loser-out game. The Bengals advance to play Lake City or Post Falls on Saturday in a loser-out, winner-to-state game.

Idaho 4A Region I: Chris Schilling fired 5 1/3 shutout innings to propel Lakeland to a 2-0 win over visiting Sandpoint for the regional title. Lakeland advances to state, while Sandpoint moves on to a state play-in game on Saturday.
