Shadle Park’s Brendan Archer wins 3A boys District 8 singles title

Brendan Archer of the Shadle Park Highlanders defeated Joe Turner of the Mt. Spokane Wildcats 6-1, 6-2 to win the 3A District 8 boys singles championship on Thursday at Shadle Park High School.

Mt. Spokane claimed the district team title by a 48-32 margin over runner-up Shadle Park. North Central (28) was third, followed by Rogers (16).

In the girls 3A District 8 tournament at Shadle Park, Audra Spargo of Shadle Park and Rachel Pilgeram of Mt. Spokane advanced to the finals.

Spargo defeated Kate Grossman of Mt. Spokane, while Pilgeram beat Hana Nelson of the North Central Indians in the semifinals.

Spargo and Pilgeram will square off on Friday for the singles championship.

Baseball

The Lewiston Bengals rolled to a 9-2 victory over the Post Falls Trojans in a 5A Region I winner-to-state, loser-out game at Lewiston.
