College softball: Casey Stangel guides Washington past Stanford

Casey Stangel (Lake City High) finished 2 for 2 with two runs and three walks Saturday while leading the 13th-ranked Washington Huskies (36-13, 16-8 Pac-12) to a 10-5 win over the Stanford Cardinal (13-35, 0-24) at Smith Family Stadium in Stanford, California.

Kimberlee Souza and Julia DePonte homered for the Huskies, who trailed 4-2 before their five-run fifth.

The Huskies completed conference play and await word on their assignment for next weekend’s NCAA regionals.
