Man accused of crashing car into house, assaulting deputy

A man is in the Spokane County Jail after being arrested Monday for reportedly crashing a car and then getting into a fight with a Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputy in which he tried to grab the deputy’s gun.

Deputies had responded to a report of a car crashing into a house on Billy Jack Road. The driver of the car had a no-contact order against the passenger, who was identified as Shawn Holman, 37. Holman allegedly grabbed the steering wheel of the car during an argument, causing the car to run over a stop sign and crash into a house, according to court documents.

A deputy attempted to arrest Holman for violating the protection order and Holman allegedly began to fight “violently,” according to court documents. Another deputy and two Liberty Lake Police Officers reported that that they saw Holman attempt to take the deputy’s gun and then grab the deputy by the testicles during the fight, court documents say.

Holman is facing charges of violation of an order, third-degree assault and resisting arrest.
