Maryland college administrator to lead North Idaho College
Richard MacLennan, president of Garrett College in Maryland, will be the new president of North Idaho College in Coeur d’Alene.
The NIC Board of Trustees announced Wednesday it had selected MacLennan to lead the community college. He will succeed Joe Dunlap, who will retire in June after four years leading the school.
MacLennan was one of six finalists selected by a 22-member search committee. He has served as president of Garrett College since 2010. Before that he was vice president of student services for 12 years at Olympic College in Western Washington. He holds a master’s degree from Oregon State University and a doctorate of education from Wilmington University.
“My wife, Theresa, and I are looking forward to making North Idaho our home and becoming a part of NIC and the communities it serves,” MacLennan said in a statement.
The NIC board plans to approve MacLennan’s contract at its May 25 board meeting, and he will start on July 1.
