The Dirt: New business park under way on Trent near Sullivan

By Treva Lind Correspondent

Heavy equipment has started prepping vacant land to develop a business park on Trent Avenue, just east of Sullivan Road.

Owner Thomas Andersen, of Bellevue, has filed a site plan to divide 10.74 acres into eight lots for a light industrial-zoned business park.

Bellevue-based TAPA Spokane LLC, with Andersen as a principal, also filed a pre-application with the city of Spokane Valley to build a single-use, 6,000-square-foot commercial building on-site, located at 16017 E. Trent Ave., but the use isn’t yet designated.

The city issued a grading permit for TAPA Business Park onsite improvements, and that work began this past week.

Urbanna salon to move into downtown space

Urbanna Natural Salon Spa & Wine will move into new downtown Spokane digs next month.

A June 6 opening is planned in nearly 9,000 square feet of renovated space, at 104 S. Division St., leased in the historic Inland Empire Biscuit Co. Building. It gives Urbanna larger quarters, after about $425,000 in building upgrades.

The site is a block north of its space at 168 S. Division St., and that location will close May 30. Owners Linda and Rick Biel opened Urbanna in 2009, and it now employs 40 people. The company will hire five new employees after the relocation.

Expanded services will include more pedicure and hair stations, spray tanning, a new esthetics division, larger locker rooms and separate men’s and women’s lounges. Urbanna offers wine and beer, and the site has a rentable event room.

3 more Sweeto Burrito restaurants planned

The franchisee of a Sweeto Burrito in Spokane Valley plans to open three more of the restaurants in the Inland Northwest.

Scott Isaak, who launched the first outlet a year ago, will renovate a 2,600-square-foot former Shakey’s Pizza at the Northpointe Shopping Center for one location. Isaak plans new construction to build the other two Sweeto Burrito sites, each with 2,700 square feet.

One building project will be on the block between Division and Ruby streets, fronting Nora Avenue on the north side. A fourth location isn’t yet finalized.

Vandervert Construction Inc., of Spokane, will build all three, starting in late May at Northpointe. Work near Division is expected to start in four to six weeks, and the fourth site would begin later this summer.
