Hamburger chain Wendy’s says Todd Penegor is now CEO

Associated Press

NEW YORK – Wendy’s says Todd Penegor is now CEO and president of the hamburger chain, a move that was previously announced late last year.

Penegor replaced Emil Brolick, who announced in October that he planned to retire in May. At the time, The Wendy’s Co. said Penegor would replace him. Penegor had been chief financial officer of the company since 2013. Both Penegor and Brolick will be board members of Wendy’s, if shareholders approve the move Thursday.

Gunther Plosch, who joined the company this month, is now CFO.

Dublin, Ohio-based Wendy’s has been remodeling its stores and adding new menu items to boost its image. The company has more than 6,500 restaurants, making it the third largest hamburger chain in the world.
