Cate Caporicci scored twice Friday as host St. George’s (14-3) secured a spot in the State 2B/1B quarterfinals with a 5-1 win that eliminated Northwest Christian (9-8-1).
The Dragons struck quickly, at 8 minutes, as Lydia Bergquist fed Maddy Christiansen. The two combined for two goals and three assists as the Dragons completed a three-game season sweep of the Crusaders.
St. George’s outshot NWC 29-9.
St. George’s will host a state quarterfinal next weekend against Saturday’s loser between Brewster and Liberty Bell. The match could be moved to another field in town.
