Welcome Home! A Community Tribute to All Veterans - The program is open to all and will pay tribute to veterans, veterans organizations and their families. Gates will open at noon; the formal program will begin at 1 p.m. with military marches, period music, presentation of the colors and Pledge of Allegiance; the program will conclude at 2 p.m. with the benediction for fallen comrades, and the playing of “Taps.” Friday, Felts Field, Historic Northwest Airlines Hangar, 6105 E. Free Meals for Veterans - 2016 - The following businesses are offering a meal to veterans and active duty service members with military ID. Check with participating restaurants for their offer good on Friday: Applebee’s, Buffalo Wild Wings, Chili’s, Denny’s (5 a.m.-noon), Golden Corral (5-9 p.m. on Nov. 14 only), Little Caesars (11 a.m.-2 p.m.), MOD Pizza, Olive Garden, Outback Steakhouse (Bloomin’ Onion and beverage), Red Lobster (free appetizer or dessert), Red Robin, Texas Roadhouse (lunch, 11 a.m.-4 p.m.), Starbucks (tall coffee), Krispy Kreme (donut and coffee) and IHOP (stack of pancakes).

Veterans Day Ceremony: Honoring Those Who Served - The Spokane VA Medical Center is pleased to join the leadership and members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 51 for the annual event. Doors open at 9 a.m., ceremony at 10 a.m. The Veterans Display on the concourse will be available for viewing immediately following the ceremony. Friday, Spokane Arena, 720 W. Mallon Ave. Fre. Veterans Day Book Readings - Herb Batterson, Joyce Caudel, Allen Dorfman, Nancy Hartley, Bob Manion, Lewis Meline, David McChesney and Stan Parks will read from memoir, fiction, and poetry inspired by World War II, Vietnam and later periods.
