Temper election fears
I thank Shawn Vestal, and the Spokesman-Review, for the Nov. 8 article “However it goes on Tuesday.” This family that is our nation needs to hear more messages emphasizing love over division. Whatever the outcome of the election, if we live in the U.S., we are going to go through this together.
Maturity means that we understand we don’t always get what we want. That we don’t take all our toys and go home. We continue to interact and negotiate.
Our personal ethics, morals and fear may keep us swirling in the political tornados of our country. These tornados will never go away. But in the middle stands our family, our friends, our children, our neighbors, our community, each of whom are more than worthy of our constant tender care.
The coming weeks will not be easy. Let’s do something bold. Let’s challenge ourselves to corral our fears, to demonstrate peace instead of discord, to practice humility and kindness and to love one another. Share this challenge with others as you go about the coming days. Maybe we can make a radical change after all.
