Sandpoint woman dies in crash on Highway 95

A Sandpoint woman died early Saturday morning when she ran a stop sign and hit the side of a semi on U.S. Highway 95 at Selle Road, according to the Idaho State Police.

Barbara Crawford, 64, was driving westbound on Selle Road when she failed to stop at a stop sign on Highway 95 just after midnight. After she hit the side of the semi her car rolled into the northbound ditch, the ISP said.

The semi, driven by Christopher Hodgkinson of Reed Deer, Alberta, Canada, jack-knifed and slid into the northbound ditch. His trailer tipped and lost its load, the ISP said.

Crawford died at the scene. The highway was blocked for hours as the crash was investigated.
