Gonzaga faces Florida in AdvoCare semifinals

Florida is Gonzaga’s assignment in the AdvoCare Invitational semifinals but it could pass for a March matchup.

“Super athletic, playing hard and getting after you,” Zags coach Mark Few said of the Gators, who improved to 5-0 with a hard-fought 81-76 win over Seton Hall on Thursday. “Florida has a look of a team that can play in the second weekend of the NCAA tournament.”

Guard KeVaughn Allen scored 21 points and wing Canyon Berry, son of former NBA great Rick Berry, added 20 points in the victory over Seton Hall.

Berry averages a team-high 14.6 points, Allen is at 14.0 and forward Devin Robinson chips in 11.2.

Florida blocked seven shots and limited the Pirates to 33-percent shooting in the second half.

“I saw Gonzaga play this year about five minutes, and that was live here in the second half,” Gators coach Mike White said. “First glance, I know the big fella (Przemek Karnowski) is extremely skilled, really impressed with his passing ability. I like the size of their guards and they seem like really good passers as well.”
