The Dirt: ALK undertaking $14.3 million Post Falls biomed expansion

ALK Source Materials Laboratory Inc., a maker of allergenic biological source materials, is expanding its biomedical facility in Post Falls.

The $14.3 million project will add 35,000 square feet to the 60,000-square-foot facility, at 448 S. Lochsa St., in the Riverbend Commerce Park. Construction is underway, and the addition will allow for more testing space and expansion of current operations.

Hoffman Construction is the contractor for the project that’s expected to wrap up by June. With the expansion, ALK expects to add about 40 employees between 2017 and 2020, according to the city of Post Falls.

ALK Source Materials, a subsidiary of ALK-Abelló, is a leading producer of pharmaceuticals for allergy immunotherapy. It produces and stocks more than 800 different allergens, its website said.
