Man found dead outside Sacred Heart parking garage

The body of an adult man was found on the ground just outside the south entrance to the Providence Sacred Heart Doctor’s Building parking garage Tuesday evening.

Someone exiting the garage in the 100 block of East Eighth Avenue spotted the man and called 911 shortly before 6 p.m., said Senior Police Officer Wayne Downing. The garage, which is open to employees and the public, was shut down for about an hour and no one was allowed to enter or exit.

“It happened to be shift change when this happened,” Downing said.

Major Crimes detectives are investigating the man’s death. The Medical Examiner’s office will release the man’s name after an autopsy has been completed.
