Area roundup: Erik Farias helps St. George’s beat Lakeside (WA)

Erik Farias finished one assist shy of a triple-double with 20 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists to help St. George’s overcome a shaky first quarter and beat visiting Lakeside (Nine Mile Falls) 60-45 in the season opener for both teams in nonleague action on Wednesday.

The Dragons faced a six-point deficit after the first, but came back with a 21-9 second quarter.

Tristan Cox scored 14 points for Lakeside.

Northport 47, Inchelium 40: Aiden Middlesworth scored 22 points with 22 rebounds and six steals, RJ Prum added 15 points – all in the second half – and the Mustangs beat the visiting Hornets in nonleague action.

Terrence Holford led Inchelium with 15 points.

Girls

Hailey Higashi scored 19 points with five 3-pointers and St. George’s defeated Lakeside (Nine Mile Falls) 47-36 in nonleague action.

Sienna Swannack scored 13 points for Lakeside.

Inchelium 51, Northport 30: Renae Finley scored 13 points and visiting Inchelium handled Northport 51-30 in nonleague action.

Hailey Young led Northport with 13 points.

Kootenai 45, Mullan 20: Aspen Greene and Paxton Dotson scored 10 points apiece and the Warriors topped the Tigers in the North Star League opener for both teams.

Women’s soccer

Eastern Washington junior forward Chloe Williams (second team) and sophomore midfielder Jenny Chavez (third team) were named to the 2016 NSCAA NCAA Division I women’s All-Pacific Region Team, the first time in program history EWU players have been selected for the honor.

Williams was named Big Sky Offensive Player of the Year for the second-straight season. The forward set single-season records with 33 points, 14 goals and five game-winning goals.

Chavez had a career best nine points during the regular season and added two more in the postseason.
