Nampa fire chief in fair condition following I-84 crash
CALDWELL, Idaho – The Nampa fire chief’s condition has improved after he recently was critically injured in a motorcycle crash on Interstate 84.
The Idaho Statesman said Chief Karl Malott was taken to a hospital Boise on Sept. 24 crash with critical injuries but he is now listed in fair condition.
Malott was injured near Sand Hollow after his motorcycle rear-ended a sedan. Malott, who had not been wearing a helmet at the time, was thrown from the motorcycle. No one in the sedan was injured.
Idaho State Police is investigating.
Sgt. Jens Pattis says Marlott’s speed and whether alcohol was involved are still under investigation.
