Shooting suspect captured in North Spokane

Police arrested a suspect in an August shooting in West Central outside a north Spokane Wal-Mart Saturday afternoon with the help of two citizens.

Someone called police shortly after noon Saturday to report two suspicious men outside the Wal-Mart on Colton Street. When police arrived one of the men ran and two bystanders helped an officer capture him, according to a Spokane Police Department news release.

The man, who initially gave police a false name, was identified as 26-year-old Danny T. Williams. He is suspected of being involved in a shooting in the 1500 block of West Sharp Avenue on Aug. 25 that left a men with a non-life-threatening wound to the leg.

Williams has been booked into the Spokane County Jail on charges of second-degree assault, drive-by shooting and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

The man who was with Williams at the Wal-Mart was arrested on an unrelated felony warrant.
