Trump granted media edge

In an old Marx Brothers movie, Groucho is informed that the “Garbage man is here,” and Groucho responds, “Tell him we don’t want any.”

Well, no surprise, we still don’t want any. But via the news media, we’re getting it, like up to here. The racism, misogyny, hypocrisy, chest thumping, etc. of Donald Trump continues to be fawningly, obsessively reported on and, incidentally, looking and smelling none the better for it.

Broadcast media leads the way, but on page three of the Spokesman-Review, Sept. 17, we stumble over this: “Trump drops skepticism over Obama’s birthplace.” This could be the title to a satire piece, but it’s reported as a straight news event.

Dumping his garbage or picking it up again, this clown unfailingly does it to Fourth Estate fanfare. It is, if nothing else, the name brand repetition that benefits Trump, giving him an edge in this campaign. Hillary’s impressive credentials, on the other hand, are nullified by a media reluctant to cover the issues. Covering Trump is just easier, presumably. And more fun.
