Driver killed in Whitman County when vehicle strikes tree, lands in creek

A driver was killed early Monday in a one-car crash eight miles west of Colfax, the Washington State Patrol reported.

The driver, whose identity has not been released, was driving west on state Highway 26 at about 1:10 a.m. when his or her car crossed the center and went off the road, down an embankment, into Union Flat Creek and struck a tree.

The driver was ejected from the vehicle.
