Prep roundup: Deer Park defeats Freeman in key Northeast A matchup

Connor O’Dea went 12 of 24 for 197 yards with two touchdowns and Deer Park (5-1, 4-0) defeated visiting Freeman (4-2, 2-2) 22-17 in a key Northeast A matchup.

Deer Park’s Joel Overton scored on a 27-yard pass reception in the fourth quarter, leaving only 22 seconds left on the board, then Mikal Palmer sealed the victory with a safety on the final play of the game.

Trayton Bird caught five passes for 71 yards and a touchdown.

In other Northeast A action:

Medical Lake at Colville: Braeden Flugel scored two rushing touchdowns – including a 44-yarder – and Colville (4-2, 3-1) defeated visiting Medical Lake (0-6, 0-4) 62-0.

The Indians used a balanced attack, recording 161 yards in the air and 162 on the ground. Braxton Fitzsimmons scored the lone passing touchdown for Colville.

Next weekend, Colville will travel to Freeman for a big league matchup

Chewelah at Lakeside (WA): Bryson Chittem’s two interceptions played a big role as Lakeside (4-2, 3-1) defeated visiting Chewelah (2-4, 1-4) 35-14.

Caden Wickwire threw two touchdown passes and ran for another.

Newport at Riverside: Jesse Reyes rushed for 118 yards on 21 carries with a touchdown to help visiting Newport (4-2, 3-1) beat Riverside (1-5, 1-4) 26-0.

Koa Pancho passed for 146 yards with two touchdowns and rushed for another. Owen Leslie caught touchdown passes of 13 and 10 yards.

Great Northern

Pullman at West Valley: Jake Cillay threw four touchdown passes and visiting Pullman (5-1, 2-0) topped West Valley (5-1, 0-1) 36-33.

Ben Moos had touchdown receptions of 47 and 8 yards.

West Valley scored on second-half touchdown passes from Hunter Wright to Connor Whitney and Collin Sather, but didn’t convert after either score.

Northeast 2B

Colfax at Liberty: Tyler Haas scored on runs of 22, 12 and 5 yards – and returned a fumble for a score – to help Liberty (6-0, 6-0) past visiting Colfax (3-3, 3-3) 45-6.

Liberty hosts Northwest Christian (6-0), who defeated Reardan 49-0 on Thursday, next week.

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague at Davenport: Bryce Esser tossed three touchdown passes and visiting Lind-Ritzville/Sprague (2-4, 2-4) knocked off Davenport (3-3, 3-3) 47-20.

Damien Rouleau rushed for two touchdowns, of 43 and 55 yards, and caught a 12-yard score.

Wilbur-Creston at Springdale: Aaron McDowell rushed for two touchdowns of 24 and 35 yards and visiting Wilbur-Creston (1-5, 1-5) beat Springdale (0-6, 0-6) 36-7.

Wilbur-Creston generated 263 yards on the ground.

Northeast 1B

Republic at Selkirk: Joe Koffel had two touchdown runs, one for 30 yards and another for 50 yards and visiting Republic (3-3, 2-0) held off Selkirk (2-5, 0-2) 26-20.

After Koffel’s second touchdown in the fourth quarter, Selkirk’s Jacob Couch returned the kick 75 yards for a touchdown, but the Rangers were unable to score on their final drive as time expired.

Cusick at Columbia: Jed Cupp passed for 191 yards with three touchdowns and rushed 78 yards with another score and visiting Cusick (3-2, 1-1) defeated Columbia (3-2, 1-1) 30-0.

Dylan Hendershott had five catches for 186 yards with three touchdowns.

Intermountain

Bonners Ferry at Timberlake: Ryan Stevens returned two interceptions for touchdowns in the fourth quarter and Timberlake (1-6, 1-0) defeated visiting Bonners Ferry (0-7, 0-1).

Caleb Munson rushed for 159 yards with a touchdown. Brandon Hausladen added 79 yards rushing with a touchdown.

For Bonners Ferry, Nick Saban carried 21 times for 172 yards with a touchdown.
