Kootenai County deputy patrol car hits, kills pedestrian in Hayden

A Kootenai County sheriff’s deputy patrol car hit and killed a pedestrian on U.S. Highway 95 in Hayden early Saturday morning.

The deputy was driving a 2008 Ford Crown Victoria patrol car south on U.S. 95 in the right lane as he approached Miles Avenue just after 1:30 a.m. Saturday, according to the Idaho State Police. The car hit a woman on the highway.

The name of the deputy has not been released. The pedestrian, who died at the scene, has been identified only as a 38-year-old Hayden woman.

The crash is under investigation. Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call ISP at (208) 209-8730.
