Debate watchers cited for scuffle at Eugene bar

Associated Press

EUGENE – Presidential nominees Donald Trump and Hilary Clinton aren’t the only people who faced off on Sunday night, as a group of debate watchers were cited for fighting at a Eugene bar.

The Register-Guard reports that 65-year-old Thomas Capri says he was watching the debate with a few female friends at the bar in the Hilton Eugene when a group of loud Trump supporters called his friends a “homosexual slur” after asking the men to quiet down. Capri is a supporter of Clinton.

Police say employees repeatedly had asked the man who shouted to leave, but he had refused.

Capri then says he confronted the man, and the two pushed each other. Capri was cited with a misdemeanor offense for the incident.
