Lame Deer-area woman pleads guilty to hitting boy with car

Associated Press

BILLINGS – A 19-year-old Lame Deer-area woman has acknowledged driving drunk and running over a 7-year-old boy with her car, causing him to suffer a broken leg.

The Billings Gazette reports Jacqueline Three Fingers pleaded guilty Wednesday in federal court in Billings to assault resulting in serious bodily injury for the collision last October on the Northern Cheyenne Reservation.

Prosecutors allege Three Fingers had been drinking and was driving outside of Lame Deer last Oct. 18, where some boys were playing under a street light. The victim was sitting on a curb with his feet outstretched when Three Fingers hit him, causing him to suffer a compound fracture of his lower leg.

U.S. Magistrate Carolyn Ostby said she would recommend that U.S. District Judge Susan Watters accept the plea. Watters will schedule the sentencing date. Three Fingers faces up to 10 years in prison.
