Vandals kicker Austin Rehkow snares player-of-week award

Senior kicker Austin Rehkow, a Central Valley High School graduate, was named the Sun Belt Conference special teams player of the week after his four field goals helped the visiting Idaho Vandals beat the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks 34-31 on Saturday.

Rehkow connected on all four of his attempts, including a 27-yarder as time expired to win the game.

He was also successful from 28, 34 and 32 yards out.

It is Rehkow’s third career player-of-the-week award.

The Vandals host Sun Belt foe New Mexico State on Saturday at 2 p.m.
