G-Prep football team moves to seventh in AP rankings

From staff reports

The Gonzaga Prep football team climbed a notch from eighth to seventh in The Associated Press rankings released Wednesday.

The Bullpups (6-2) entertain Central Valley (7-1) to decide the 4A Greater Spokane League championship on Friday.

Camas (8-0) remained No. 1 followed by Richland (8-0), which locked up the Mid-Columbia Conference title last Friday in a 21-14 win over Chiawana (7-1). The Riverhawks slipped to eight.

O’Dea (8-0), which moved to No. 1 in 3A last week after beating two-time defending state champ Eastside Catholic (7-1) remained No. 1.

In 1A, Northeast A League champ Deer Park (7-1) received enough votes to be ranked 11th if the poll went that far.

In 2B, Asotin (7-1), which moved defeated Northwest Christian (7-1) last week to forge a three-way tie atop the Northeast 2B, is second behind season-long leader Napavine (8-0). Liberty (7-1) is fourth and NWC is fifth.

Almira/Coulee-Hartline (8-0) continued at second in 1B behind leader Lummi (8-0). Odessa-Harrington (7-0) moved up to third. The Titans travel to Coulee City on Friday to take on ACH in a game that will decide the Northeast 1B South Division title.
