Area roundup: Eastern Washington rallies past Weber State in volleyball

Ka’iulani Ahuna tallied a match-high 19 kills and Ashley Seiler added 17 kills and 18 digs to power the Eastern Washington Eagles (11-9, 6-5) to a come-from-behind 23-25, 25-21, 20-25, 25-17, 15-9 victory over the visiting Weber State Wildcats (13-7, 4-7) in Big Sky Conference volleyball on Thursday.

Jessica Gilbert chipped in 11 kills and Sophie Miller and Regan Harr each handed off 25 assists for EWU.

Emmy Allen had a match-high 14 kills and Morgan Douglass led all players with 16 digs to propel the visiting Gonzaga Bulldogs (12-7, 5-4) to a 25-17, 25-16, 25-21 sweep over the San Francisco Dons (4-19, 0-10) in West Coast Conference play.

Sarah Sharp totaled 17 kills, Kaela Straw added 15 kills and Terra Varney chipped in 22 digs to rally the Idaho Vandals (8-15, 3-8) to a 16-25, 25-21, 27-25, 25-18 upset victory over the visiting Idaho State Bengals (12-12, 7-4) in Big Sky Conference action.


Chase Reidt and Jonathan Cortez each scored goals over a 7-minute span late in the first half to spark the Community Colleges of Spokane Sasquatch men (12-3-3, 12-1-1) to a 4-1 victory over the visiting North Idaho Cardinals (6-8-4, 6-6-2) in Northwest Athletic Conference play.

David Coly scored a goal in overtime to lift the Washington Huskies men (11-4, 5-2) to a 2-1 road win over the California Golden Bears (5-8-2, 1-6-1) in Pacific-12 Conference action.

Kailiana Johnson scored in the 77th minute to lift the Washington State Cougars women (7-9-1, 2-7) to a 2-1 Pac-12 win over the visiting Oregon State Beavers (6-10-2, 1-8).

Becca Schoales found the net in the 77th minute to propel the Washington Huskies women (7-10-1, 2-7) to a 2-1 win over the visiting Oregon Ducks (8-9-1, 2-7) in Pac-12 action.
