Bowling

It was John Hilden’s day during the Junior Bowlers Tour stop at North Bowl last Sunday.

Hilden started the day hot, compiling a 931 five-game series during the qualifying round, took the top seed into the five-person roll-offs and finished strong, beating Anthony Huck 193-173 for the championship.

Huck had started slow, but a 902 series and 4-0 record during match play vaulted him from 11th into the No. 3 seed going into the playoffs. In his first playoff pairing, Huck overcame Mason Georgadis 241-236 in one of the best matches of the day to advance against Clint Norlen in the semifinals.

Norlen, who bowled a 901 series during the match-play portion of qualifying for the No. 2 seed, finished third after losing to Huck; Georgadis placed fourth; and Makayla Hoover was fifth.

Huck had the high game of the day, a 263. Hoover led the girls with a 249.

The next JBT will be Nov. 6 at Valley Bowl.
