Spokane Chiefs drop last game of long road trip to Swift Current

Tyler Steenburgen scored with 31 seconds left in overtime to give the Swift Current Broncos a 3-2 win over the Spokane Chiefs on Saturday in Western Hockey League action in Swift Current, Saskatchewan.

Spokane’s Tanner Wishnowski scored his third goal of the season midway through the third period to tie it at 2-2. It was his second goal and seventh point in seven games with the Chiefs (6-6-2-1) since being acquired from Kelowna in a trade.

Evan Fiala scored a first-period goal, his first of the season, for the Chiefs.

Spokane finished 3-2-1-0 on its road trip through the East Division and returns to start a six-game homestand on Friday at the Arena against Red Deer at 7:05 p.m.

KIJHL: Castlegar 11, Spokane 6: Mason Jones had a pair of goals but the Rebels erupted for seven goals in the third period to beat the Braves (4-14-0-0-0) in Castelegar, British Columbia.
