I-1433 slam unproven

In his Oct. 16 letter to the editor, Glen Harroun seems to think that passage of I-1433 with its increased minimum wage “will cause an increase in the cost of everything.” We have no evidence that an increased minimum wage results in higher cost increases than would occur otherwise.

Nevertheless, for the sake of discussion, suppose that he is right in thinking that his income would have to stretch further with I-1433 than without. Although he probably accepts cost increases in his cable bill, utilities or financial institution’s fees, he is in the position of opposing a living wage for people struggling to get by.

I would point out that many senior citizens and others are willing to accept a small sacrifice if it makes a difference to those earning only a minimum wage.
