Man killed in crash on state Highway 291

One man was killed Sunday when the driver lost control of a car on a turn of state Highway 291 northwest of Spokane.

Spokane resident Marcus E. Samuels-McDaniel, 30, was a passenger in the car and not wearing a seat belt, the Washington State Patrol reported in a news release. He died at the scene.

The driver, Spokane resident Billie A. Jones, 29, was uninjured. Another passenger, Otis Orchards resident Jared A. Flett, 29, also was unhurt. Jones and Flett were wearing seat belts, WSP said.

Jones was southbound 16 miles northwest of Spokane when the 2000 Neon left the road and struck a rock wall just after 7 p.m., WSP said.

The crash remains under investigation.
