Road near Priest Lake Tower Fire site closing for timber salvage

Forest Service Road 659 on the west end of Squaw Valley in the Priest Lake Ranger District will be closed this fall for timber salvage.

Trees burned in the Tower Fire will be salvaged beginning the second week of September, according to a news release from the U.S. Forest Service. The road will be closed to the public to allow large trucks and heavy equipment to move in and out.

The road closure will block access to a popular quartz crystal collection site. The road should reopen sometime this winter, the Forest Service said.
