Jonah Snyder scored his sixth goal of the season but Whitworth dropped the last game of its east coast road trip 3-1 to Montclair State in Montclair, New Jersey, on Tuesday.
Lucas Terci had two goals and one assist to lead the Red Hawks.
The Pirates (2-2) open up Northwest Conference play against Willamette on Saturday.
Volleyball
Maddie Schuh had 12 kills and CC Spokane swept Centralia 25-9, 25-17, 25-16 at SFCC.
Sam Alumbres had 16 assists, Kendall Collins added 12 more and Bianca Sanchez had four aces for the Sasquatch (6-1).
Spokane hosts Wenatchee Valley on Sept. 21.
