High School Roundup: G-Prep sweeps LC in GSL volleyball preview

Maddie West led the way with eight kills and Gonzaga Prep (3-0) beat Lewis and Clark (1-2) in straight sets (25-14, 25-14, 25-20) as GSL teams played in nonleague matches across the area on Tuesday.

Emily Zink chipped in with 17 assists for the Bullpups, while Faith Carlson had three aces and two blocks.

Mead sweeps CV: Madison Lee had nine kills with two blocks and visiting Mead (3-0), coming off a fifth place finish at state, swept Central Valley (0-2) 25-12, 25-14, 25-12. Allison Russell had 16 assists for Mead while Sara Absalonson had four aces and seven digs.

U-Hi tops Rogers: Rachael Schlect had 11 kills, six aces, six digs, and four blocks and visiting University (2-1) topped Rogers (1-3) 25-14, 25-11, 25-13.

Shadle Park handles Mt. Spokane: Hailee Etter had 10 kills with four blocks to help Shadle Park (1-2) to a four-set victory over Mt. Spokane (2-1) 21-25, 25-13, 25-23, 25-21.

Ferris over North Central: Ferris (1-1) swept North Central (0-3) on the road 25-19, 25-14, 25-17.

Idaho

Visiting Lake City (5-0, 3-0) came back from two sets down to beat Coeur d’Alene 22-25, 21-25, 25-22, 25-19, 15-11 in an Inland Empire League tilt.

Timberlake sweeps Bonners: Jaquelyn Mallet and Kenzie Dean had nine kills apiece and Timberlake (2-0, 1-0) beat Bonners Ferry (1-2, 1-1) 25-22, 25-19, 25-17 in an Intermountain League match.

Keren Torres scored in the 66th minute to lift Colville (2-2) over visiting Newport (0-2, 0-2) 4-3.

Corinna Cauchy had tied it for Newport just one minute earlier.

Kirsten Stickney had a hat trick for Colville and Molly Goodwin saved a penalty kick in the 75th minute to preserve the win.

Freeman tops Lakeside: Claire Love scored on the fourth shootout attempt and Freeman (2-2, 2-1) topped visiting Lakeside (0-2, 0-2) 3-2. Brynn Van Orden’s second-half goal evened it in regular time for Freeman.

Medical Lake edges Riverside: Makayla Geiger scored twice, Jayda Noble added two assists and Medical Lake (2-2, 2-1) edged visiting Riverside (1-3, 0-3) 2-1. Taylor Cannon made nine saves for Riverside.

Great Northwest

Chloe Gellhaus earned a goal and an assist as East Valley (2-1, 1-0) scored three times in the second half for a 4-0 victory over Pullman (0-3, 0-2).

Nonleague

Frankie Shade score two goals with an assist and West Valley (0-3-1) tied visiting University (1-0-1) 4-4.

The Eagles led 3-0 at half, but U-Hi scored all four of their goals in the second to earn the tie.

Idaho

Havana Johnson recorded a hat trick with two assists and Lake City (5-1, 2-0) trounced visiting Post Falls (1-6, 0-3) 10-0 in and Inland Empire League matchup.

Lily Scott, Annica Wilson and Haley Gordon all added two goals apiece as the Timberwolves outshot the Trojans 22-3.
