Liberty Lake police blotter: Officers chase two suspects, both arrested

Liberty Lake police were involved in two chases recently that led to arrests and one minor injury for an officer.

Officers were assisting the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office with a call in the 5500 block of North Campbell Road just before 6:30 a.m. on Sept. 8 when a man reportedly gave a false name before running off. The man was caught and arrested on multiple charges, but one officer received minor injuries after falling during the chase, said Liberty Lake police Chief Brian Asmus.

An officer spotted a car going 80 mph in a 35 mph zone at Country Vista Drive and Liberty Lake Road shortly after 11:30 p.m. on Sept. 9. The car sped off and the headlights were turned off as the driver attempted to escape.

Sheriff’s deputies and the Air 1 helicopter helped track the car down, and the driver was stopped and arrested at Trent and Starr Road.
