Associated Press

YAKIMA – Authorities say a hunter has found human remains in Central Washington north of Naches.

The Yakima County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release that a hunter reported Friday that he had found what appeared to be a human jaw bone in a remote area of Cleman Mountain.

Detectives responded using ATVs and had to hike the last half mile to the site where they found the jaw bone, additional human bones and clothing.

An initial cause of death couldn’t be determined.

The sheriff’s office said it appears the remains had been at the location for several years. The person’s identity has not been determined.
