Gonzaga University writers series to feature Chicago poet Jenny Boully
The Gonzaga University Visiting Writers series kicks off Tuesday with Chicago poet Jenny Boully, the author of four books, most recently “not merely because of the unknown that was stalking toward them” (Tarpaulin Sky Press).
Boully also wrote the full-length collections “The Body: An Essay” (2002, 2007); “[one love affair]” (2006); and “The Book of Beginnings and Endings” (2007). Her chapbook of prose, “Moveable Types,” was released by Noemi Press.
Born in Thailand, Boully grew up in Texas with parents who farm and fish. She has several college degrees, including a doctorate in English from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. She teaches at Columbia College Chicago.
Boully will appear at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Globe Room at Cataldo Hall on the GU campus.
Next in the series will be Jeff Koehler, a writer, photographer, traveler and cook, on Oct 11. His most recent book is “Darjeeling: The Colorful History and Precarious Fate of the World’s Greatest Tea.”
