prep roundup: Blackhawks blank Bantams in girls soccer

Emma Scott scored an unassisted goal in the first half and Kailey Estrellado duplicated the feat after the break to lift the Cheney Blackhawks (9-1, 5-1) to a 2-0 victory over the Clarkston Bantams (4-3, 4-3) in a Great Northern League girls soccer match on Thursday in Clarkston. The Blackhawks won despite a 15-6 disadvantage in shots on goal.

Chloe Gellhaus scored a goal and added two assists to lead the East Valley Knights (6-2, 5-0) to a 6-0 romp over the Pullman Greyhounds (1-8, 0-6) in GNL play in Pullman. East Valley’s defense held Pullman without a shot.

Alexis Torok scored a goal 2 minutes into the second half and added another one in a shootout to spark the Lakeside Eagles (5-3, 4-3) to a 3-2 victory over the Riverside Rams (4-5, 2-5) in Northeast A League play at Riverside.

Volleyball

Peyton Stark piled up 33 assists to propel the front-running Cheney Blackhawks (6-1, 5-1) to a 25-17, 25-13, 20-25, 25-19 victory over the Clarkston Bantams (1-6, 1-5) in GNL action in Clarkston.

Halley Ghigleri tallied 14 digs and three aces to help guide the Pullman Greyhounds (6-3, 4-2) to a 25-17, 25-15, 25-16 sweep over the East Valley Knights (2-4, 1-4) in GNL play in Pullman.

Emily Hunt served seven aces and Trystan Potter chipped in with 13 digs to launch the Newport Grizzlies (5-4, 4-4) to a hard-fought 25-16, 25-23, 23-25, 23-25, 15-10 win over the Chewelah Cougars (3-6, 2-6) in Northeast A League play in Newport.

Justis Wells finished with 17 assists and the Freeman Scotties (7-1, 7-1) romped to a 25-8, 25-10, 25-7 sweep over the visiting Medical Lake Cardinals (0-8, 0-8) in NEA play.

Lexi Mikkelsen had 10 kills and sister Olivia contributed 30 assists as the Lakeside Eagles (8-0, 8-0) swept the host Riverside Rams (1-7, 1-7) 25-4, 25-1, 25-15 in NEA.
