Sophomore guard Bryan Alberts confirmed Wednesday night he is transferring from Gonzaga.

“Basically, it’s just playing time and trying to play a more important role on a team,” said Alberts, a 6-foot-5 wing from Northridge, California. “I have no idea where yet. I’m keeping all my options open right now.”

Alberts played in 24 games last season, averaging 5.9 minutes and 1.8 points. He started 10 games in his redshirt freshman season and averaged 2.6 points.

Alberts anticipates graduating with his degree in economics this summer, which would make him immediately eligible next season. He has two seasons of eligibility.

“It was truly a blessing,” Alberts said of his three years at Gonzaga. “I will really miss these guys and the program a lot. They gave me a lot of tools to become a better person as well as a better player.

“I’m very thankful for my time here and the guys I was around.”
