The Seattle Mariners host the Miami Marlins in the finale of a three-game series before hitting the road on a brutal 11-day, 10-game road trip through Oakland, Detroit and Cleveland for the rest of the month.

For the first time in his career, Felix Hernandez has posted three consecutive starts of at least five innings pitched with no walks. His three straight starts of five-plus innings and no walks is tied for the longest such streak to start the season in club history, matching Cliff Lee in 2010 and is tied for the fourth-longest such streak overall in club history.

Only six pitchers in MLB history have started the season with four consecutive starts of five-plus innings and no walks.

Mariners Notes

Felix Hernandez is the Mariners all-time career leader in wins with 155. With his next win, Hernandez will tie former Mariner Freddy Garcia for the most wins in Major League history by a Venezuelan-born pitcher, with 156. Garcia earned 76 of his 156 career wins with the Mariners between 1999 and 2004.

  • In his last three appearances (3 1/3 IP), Nick Vincent has retired each of the 10 batters he has faced, including seven via strikeout. During that span, he has also stranded both of his inherited runners.
  • The Mariners are 2-1 in day games this season. Dating back to Sept. 5, 2016, Seattle is 9-2 in its last 11 day games. Last season, the Mariners ranked 12th in the Majors with a .538 (28-24) winning percentage during day games.
