PULLMAN – “He tried to trick me” complained running back Jamal Morrow after a reporter asked whether or not the Washington State Cougars would debut their new uniforms during Saturday’s Crimson and Gray Game in Spokane.

The team is staying silent about the new uniforms, which were rolled out with lots of fanfare but no warning on Wednesday.

But now that the uniform designs have been made public, the players are willing to provide some reviews, at least.

“They were smooth,” said Morrow, whose favorite new uniforms are the anthracite ones with white letters and numbers.

Other combos were not so popular, particularly the red and white ones.

“Some guys didn’t like them, said they looked like Stanford’s jerseys,” said offensive lineman Liam Ryan, whose favored combination was the all-white uniform. “But I liked them. They’re plain. They’re clean.”
