Recaps for the Seattle Mariners top affiliates for Thursday night provided by team releases.

Albuquerque 3, Tacoma (AAA) 2

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.The Tacoma Rainiers (10-7) fell to the Albuquerque Isotopes (8-10) by a final score of 3-2 on Sunday afternoon at Isotopes Ballpark.

Rainiers starter Sam Gaviglio (0-3) turned in a quality start for the visitors, allowing three runs on seven hits over 6 1/3 innings of work. He ultimately took the loss while walking one and striking out one.

Tacoma broke open the scoring in the top of the third inning, claiming a 1-0 edge on an RBI triple by Ben Gamel that scored Gordon Beckham from third base.

Down 2-1, the Rainiers tied the game in the top of the seventh inning. Tyler Smith blooped a two-out single into right field and was driven in by third baseman Zach Shank on a double off the wall in deep left center field, knotting the contest up at 2-2.

Another ‘Topes triple in the bottom of the seventh inning, this time off the bat of Anthony Bemboom, led to Albuquerque retaking the lead on an RBI infield single from Raimel Tapia.

Mark Lowe relieved Gaviglio and worked the final 1 2/3 innings of the ballgame, allowing just one hit while striking out one.

Tacoma and Albuquerque square off again on Monday at 5:35 p.m. The Rainiers have not yet named a starting pitcher, while the Isotopes will offer up left-hander Harrison Musgrave (0-1, 5.40).

Springfield 8, Arkansas (AA) 1

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark.The Springfield Cardinals (9-7) defeated the Arkansas Travelers (8-8) by a score of 8-1 on Sunday afternoon at Dickey-Stephens Park in front of a crowd of 5,379.

The Mariners’ Jean Segura played in his third game of a rehab assignment and went 0 for 5 while playing the entire game in the field. He is expected to be activated by the big league club on Tuesday.

The Travs offense had chances throughout against starter Jack Flaherty but could never break through. The 21 year-old allowed six hits and a walk in six innings but kept the Travs off the board.

The lone Arkansas run came in the seventh when when Kyle Petty singled, moved around on a pair of groundouts and eventually came home on a wild pitch. For the game, the Travs were 0 for 11 when hitting with a runner in scoring position.

Andrew Moore (1-1) was charged with the loss, surrendering three runs on nine hits over 5 2/3 innings with eight strikeouts.

The Travelers hit the road for eight games starting Monday night with the first of four in Tulsa against the Drillers. Righty Max Povse (3-0, 0.48) gets the call for the Travs against righty Scott Barlow (0-2, 3.55) for Tulsa.

Modesto (High-A) 7, Visalia 1

VISALIA, Calif. Two homers and a gem from Pablo Lopez propelled the Modesto Nuts to a 7-1 win over the Visalia Rawhide on Sunday afternoon at Recreation Park.

The win gives the Nuts (11-6) their fourth straight and completes their second sweep of the season.

Pablo Lopez (W, 1-2) put together his best start for the Nuts with six innings of work against the Rawhide (9-8). Lopez retired the first eight he faced and struck out six. He allowed just three hits and only one run on a sacrifice fly.

In the first Braden Bishop whacked a lead-off home run against Rawhide starter Justin Donatella (L, 0-4). Bishop finished 3 for 5 to extend his hitting streak to 15 games. The Nuts plated two more unearned runs in the second. Joe DeCarlo, in his first game with the Nuts, added a RBI double in the third. DeCarlo later launched a two-run homer in the eighth.

Lukas Shiraldi tossed two hitless innings out of the ‘pen with two strikeouts for the Nuts. Spencer Herrmann threw the ninth with a strikeout.

The Nuts return home to open a seven-game homestand a four-game series against the Inland Empire 66ers on Monday night at John Thurman Field. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m.

Clinton (Low-A) 5, Quad Cities 4

DAVENPORT, Iowa – For the first time this season the Clinton LumberKings won back-to-back road games, beating the Quad Cities River Bandits 5-4 at Modern Woodmen Park on Sunday afternoon.

The wins were not the only thing to happen in back-to-back fashion as Nick Zammarelli and Luis Rengifo hit back-to-back home runs in the second inning to start the offense.

Zammarelli wasted no time in making his presence felt. In his first at-bat as a LumberKing (8-9) he took River Bandits (9-8) starter Jorge Alcala deep to left center field. The very next pitch was sent by Rengifo over the wall in right field for second straight home run, and an early LumberKings 2-0 lead.

Following the second inning, Clinton did not have another hit until the seventh inning.

In the top of the eighth inning, the LumberKings got within a run when Anthony Jimenez doubled to left center and scored on a sacrifice bunt by Bryson Brigman and RBI groundout by Luis Liberato.

Derrick Velazquez made his second appearance of the series for Quad Cities and pitched the ninth. Zammarelli led off the inning with a single to center and was moved to second on a sacrifice bunt from Rengifo. Following a Rizzo ground out to second, that moved Zammarelli to third, Yojhan Quevedo roped a double down the first base line to score Zammarelli to tie the game. Velazquez (1-2) then served up a single to Gareth Morgan to score Quevedo for what proved to be the winning run.

Robert Dugger earned the win for Clinton with two innings of work and allowed only one base runner, a walk in the eighth inning. Dugger (1-1) worked a 1-2-3 ninth inning to preserve the LumberKings come from behind win.

The LumberKings head to Beloit to open a three-game series with the Snappers on Monday night. RHP Brandon Miller (2-1, 2.81) will get the start for Clinton and face Beloit’s RHP Brendan Butler (0-1, 1.69).
