Amber Alert canceled for 16-month-old Mead girl
An Amber Alert issued for a missing 16-month-old Mead girl thought to be abducted by her father early Tuesday evening was canceled after the pair was located in Spokane around 6:30 p.m.
David Reed has a history of drug use and mental illness and had been reported to be acting erratically, said Spokane County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Deputy Mark Gregory. When Reed could not be located the Amber Alert was issued.
“This was a welfare check,” Gregory said. “This wasn’t a criminal issue.”
The girl is fine, Gregory said. “We wanted to err on the side of caution for the child’s welfare,” he said.
