Hot diggity: There’s a new hot dog spot in downtown Spokane

There’s a new hot dog spot in Spokane.

Barry Dogs Hot Dogs now sets up shop during lunch time on the corner of West Riverside Avenue and North Howard Street in front of the Bank of America Financial Center.

Proprietor Barry Seward, who launched the venture in July, is hoping to cater to downtown workers as well as anyone riding the bus wanting a quick and inexpensive meal. The location is near the Spokane Transit Authority Plaza.

Seward has lived in Spokane on-and-off for 30 years, moving to the area after graduating from high school in 1987. But his love of hot dogs dates further back.

“My parents tell the story of how I loved hot dogs so much that when I was about 4 years old, I could eat a whole package of hot dogs by myself,” he said in a recent news release. “Last year, I even won a hot dog eating contest. So, I created my dream job selling hot dogs and sausages, because I know there are plenty of people who love them as much as I do.”

Hot dogs are $2.49. Combos are $3.99. Sausages and sausage combos are another dollar. A two-dog combo is $5.99. A two-sausage combo is $7.49. Chips and drinks are 99 cents. Condiments – mustard, ketchup, relish, onions, jalapenos, sauerkraut, barbecue sauce and Sriracha – are free.

Barry Dogs is open weekdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 601 W. Riverside Ave. On the web: BarryDogs.com. Reach Seward at Barry@BarryDogs.com or (509) 994-9069.
