Coeur d’Alene police searching for man who used skateboard as a weapon

Coeur d’Alene Police are looking for a man who attempted to rob another man and then whacked the victim over the head with a skateboard when he refused to turn over his wallet.

The victim told police that he was on North Fourth Street shortly after midnight on Tuesday when he was approached by a man. He demanded the victim’s wallet and when the victim refused, the man hit him over the head with a skateboard.

The victim ran to Harvest Foods on Sherman Avenue and the suspect gave chase for several blocks, according to police.

The suspect is described as being in his late teens or early twenties and possibly Hispanic. He is about 5-foot-9 with a thin build and no facial hair. He was wearing long, dark-colored shorts, an unbuttoned floral shirt and a dark hat. He had no visible tattoos.
