Shame on scout council

I’ve been a Boy Scout, scoutmaster and scouter since 1946. I just watched part of Trump’s address to the national jamboree. I am flabbergasted; at how many times in his ranting he broke scout law. His disparaging other people, such as former President Obama, Hillary Clinton, the still-campaigning demeanor. These points of the scout law: helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, cheerful, reverent. Trump doesn’t fit any one of these scout law principles.

“To help other people”….”To keep myself…..morally straight” is part of the scout oath. These things are so far from Trump’s personality, his lifestyle previous to his conning 40 percent of the American public that it makes me ashamed that our national council would invite this president to the Jamboree, tradition or not.

If, as Trump says, Obama didn’t attend a jamboree, I’m positive he had a good reason. Obama was a Boy Scout. I doubt Trump even knew what a Boy Scout was in his childhood. Trying to influence our youth by such political campaigning is entirely off the wall of what a National Scout Jamboree has always stood for.

Shame on the national council.
