Democrats made the mess

How quickly they forget. Both the major media and minor media (Spokesman Review) have taken great pains to point out the lack of partisanship by Republicans in seeking to resolve our health care crisis. They are casting Democrats as heroes for helping to sink the Republicans’ plan. Conspicuously absent from all the articles is the fact that it was the Democrats that got us into this mess in the first place, along with the fact that they did it in exactly the same manner as the Republicans: behind closed doors!

The only difference between the two parties is that when Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid said, “You will vote for this,” they all did. This included our two senators, Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell. Now we are casting Sen. Murray as “having an impressive record of navigating difficult partisan waters.” And yes, Republicans stretched the truth about their plan. However, remember those famous Obama words, “If you like your doctor (or health plan) you can keep it!”

I applaud the return to bipartisanship and sincerely hope Congress can find a way out of our health care morass, but let’s not treat the Democrats as the heroes in this mess. They created it!
