Daniel Roy of Spokane is turning his attention to Indianapolis and the 2017 FINA World Junior Swimming Championships Aug. 23-28 after wrapping up a week in East Meadow, New York, at the Speedo Junior National Championships.

The 17-year-old Gonzaga Prep senior swam to an 11th-place finish in the men’s 200-meter individual medley on Saturday in his final race in East Meadow, placing third in the B Final. His time of 2 minutes, 4.99 seconds was faster than the final three finishers in the A final, however his prelim time of 2:06.23 was 11th overall and landed him in the B final.

It capped a week in which he won the 100 breaststroke in 1:01.42, the 200 breast in a meet-record 2:11.25 and finished 17th in the 400 IM by winning the C final with a dramatic last-to-first charge from the backstroke (second) leg to the wall.
