Spokane Indians fall to Eugene in 12 innings for sixth straight loss
EUGENE – Rafael Narea hit a walk-off single in the 12th inning to lead the Eugene Emeralds past Spokane 2-1 on Sunday for the Indians’ sixth straight loss.
The Emeralds loaded the bases against Indians right-hander Ismel Lopez in the 12th on a pair of singles and a walk. Ramsey Romano, who came in as a pinch runner for Chris Carrier, scored the game-winning run from third after Narea singled to center field.
The Indians, 9-9 in second half of Northwest League play and 25-31 overall, scored their lone run in the first inning. With no outs and the bases loaded, Clay Middleton hit into a double play with Miguel Aparicio scoring from third.
The Emeralds (9-9, 30-26) didn’t answer until the ninth inning when Jared Young scored on a sacrifice fly by Gustavo Polanco.
The Emeralds outhit the Indians 10-4. Narea, Young and Polanco had two hits apiece for the Emeralds.
Aparicio led the Indians with a pair of singles in five at-bats.
The teams will play the fourth game in the five-game series Monday at 7:05 p.m.
