Tacoma (AAA) 9, El Paso 6

TACOMA, Wash. – Ian Miller hit a two-run double in the second inning, leading the Tacoma Rainiers (63-66) to a 9-6 win over the El Paso Chihuahuas (64-65) on Monday.

The double by Miller started the scoring in a seven-run inning and gave the Rainiers a 4-2 lead. Later in the inning, Tacoma scored on four more plays, including a two-run single by Andrew Aplin.

El Paso cut the deficit to 9-6 when Rafael Ortega scored on a wild pitch in the ninth inning.

Jonathan Aro (6-0) got the win in relief while El Paso starter Kyle Lloyd (1-4) took the loss in the Pacific Coast League game.

Hunter Renfroe tripled, doubled and singled, scoring two runs for the Chihuahuas.

Arkansas (AA)

The Arkansas Travelers were off on Monday. Arkansas starts a four-game series against Tulsa on Tuesday.

Modesto (High-A)

The Modesto Nuts were off on Monday. Modesto starts a three-game series against Stockton on Tuesday.

Clinton (Low-A) 7, Peoria 6

PEORIA, Ill. – Nick Thurman hit a three-run home run in the fifth inning, leading the Clinton LumberKings (56-68) to a 7-6 win over the Peoria Chiefs (60-66) on Monday.

JP Sears got J.R. Davis to fly out with a runner on first to end the game for his second save of the season.

The home run by Thurman scored Joe Rizzo and Nick Zammarelli to give the LumberKings a 7-5 lead.

In the bottom of the sixth, Peoria cut into the deficit on a walk by Kramer Robertson that scored Davis.

Starter Danny Garcia (7-11) got the win while Frederis Parra (3-6) took the loss in relief in the Midwest League game.

In the losing effort, Peoria got contributions throughout its order, as five players had at least a pair of hits. Brian O’Keefe homered and singled twice.

Everett (Short-A) 4, Vancouver 2

VANCOUVER, British Columbia – Onil Pena hit a run-scoring single in the seventh inning, leading the Everett AquaSox (30-34) to a 4-2 win over the Vancouver Canadians (36-28) on Monday.

Matt Clancy got Brock Lundquist to ground out with runners on first and third to end the game for his fifth save of the season.

The single by Pena started the scoring in a four-run inning and broke a scoreless tie. Later in the inning, Chris Torres hit an RBI single.

Following the big inning, the Canadians cut into the deficit in the eighth inning when Bryan Lizardo hit an RBI single, scoring Kacy Clemens.

The Canadians saw their comeback attempt come up short after Clemens hit an RBI double, bringing home Norberto Obeso in the ninth inning to cut the Everett lead to 4-2.

Ted Hammond (1-1) got the win in relief while Grayson Huffman (2-2) took the loss in the Northwest League game.

The Canadians squandered some scoring chances, leaving 13 runners on base in the loss.
